UX Designers at The Philadelphia Inquirer play a key role in shaping how our readers engage with our content across all platforms. They continuously evolve our digital products to meet the changing needs of both our audience and our organization.
As a UX Design Intern, you’ll work closely with our design, research, and engineering teams and contribute to real projects by conducting research, creating user flows or wireframes, building prototypes, and delivering final designs. Together, we’ll define a project you can complete in your time with us that allows you to make a tangible impact.
This is a 9-week, paid, full-time internship running from June through August 2026.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
- Rising junior or senior, or a current graduate student, studying User Experience Design, or a related field or completed a UX/UI Boot Camp certification
- Working proficiency in Figma (auto-layout, components, design systems, prototyping)
- Familiarity with AI tools for design without a reliance on them
- Basic understanding of UX principles, usability heuristics, and user-centered design methods
Duties
- Develop an understanding of user needs and help shape how they interact with new features
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, journalists, and UX designers in a fast-paced environment to see your project or feature come to life
- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes and high-fidelity designs
- Participate in design reviews, giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Support user research efforts, including interviews, usability testing, and comparative analysis, and help translate insights into design solutions
