Choice Media & Communications is seeking a Publicity Intern for the Summer semester (May - August). We are looking for sharp and savvy candidates with a great deal of initiative, strong work ethic, warmth, superior writing and communication skills and a genuine passion for the lifestyle and entertainment clientele Choice serves. This will be a non-paid internship with the opportunity for school credit. Interns will be required to work 10 - 20 hours a week. Interns can work remotely.

Qualifications

  • Have the means to work remotely with a personal computer or laptop, as well as access to a reliable internet connection
  • Organizational aptitude and keen attention to detail
  • Must be self-motivated and have a strong initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable by nature

Duties

  • Research and develop media lists for local, regional, national, op-ed and podcast publicity campaigns
  • Prepare high-quality press materials for clients including press releases, pitches, one-sheets, product catalogs, and media advisories
  • Keep an ear to the ground for newsworthy opportunities, reviewing daily HARO’s (Help a Reporter Out), researching trending topics and brainstorming unique pitch angles
  • Assist in pitching traditional and digital media on timely client opportunities to secure earned media coverage and maintain accurate tracking and response records
  • Plan for printed editorial media opportunities by maintaining and monitoring editorial calendars
  • Vet and coordinate incoming media opportunities for clients and prepare interview notes for confirmed coverage
  • Maintain campaign status reports with monthly media coverage, metrics, action items, and opportunities
  • Participate in internal planning and external client meetings
  • Maintain the Choice Media and Communications website (WordPress hosted) with updated client information and recent media coverage
  • Contribute to the client acquisition process, performing competitive research, participating in brainstorming sessions and developing proposal materials
  • Assist in client offboarding by preparing comprehensive campaign coverage overviews
  • Help with other aspects of Choice Media and Communications as needed (Social Media, Business Development, etc)
