News Interns will work alongside reporters, producers, directors, studio operators, and News managers to experience nearly all aspects of television news creation.
Qualifications
- This internship will run from approximately June thru August with some flexibility based on your availability
- Secure housing and transportation during the internship are the responsibility of the intern
- Able to work part-time hours
Duties
- Assignment Desk – learn how news is gathered and assigned
- Reporting – shadow reporters on interviews and during live shots
- Production: Photographer – shadow photographers as they film and edit news stories and coordinate live shots. Studio Camera Operator – learn camera shots, angles and lighting
- Digital Media – learn about the strategic use of WMTW’s website and social media platforms
- Producing – understand the process of creating a news broadcast from scratch and learn the basics of television news writing
- Directing – observe the technical execution of newscasts including directing live shows and audio operation
