Company Information

News Interns will work alongside reporters, producers, directors, studio operators, and News managers to experience nearly all aspects of television news creation. 

Qualifications

  • This internship will run from approximately June thru August with some flexibility based on your availability
  • Secure housing and transportation during the internship are the responsibility of the intern
  • Able to work part-time hours

Duties

  • Assignment Desk – learn how news is gathered and assigned
  • Reporting – shadow reporters on interviews and during live shots
  • Production: Photographer – shadow photographers as they film and edit news stories and coordinate live shots. Studio Camera Operator – learn camera shots, angles and lighting
  • Digital Media – learn about the strategic use of WMTW’s website and social media platforms
  • Producing – understand the process of creating a news broadcast from scratch and learn the basics of television news writing
  • Directing – observe the technical execution of newscasts including directing live shows and audio operation
