Schneps Media is seeking a Media Journalist intern to join our Schneps Media team. The Media Journalist intern will be an integral part of our coverage, producing a variety of multimedia content for various topics relevant to our brands, across multiple platforms such as print and digital media.
Qualifications
- Strong writing and storytelling skills and ability to write engaging stories for print and digital platforms
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Knowledge of AP style and experience with copyediting
- Interest in and knowledge of the local community and current events
- Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively
- Prior experience with a student newspaper, media publication, or creative content platform preferred but not required
Duties
- Report, write, and produce engaging stories for both print and digital platforms, including news articles, features, and blog posts
- Pitch, develop, and follow through on story ideas with research, interviews, and on-the-ground reporting
- Conduct interviews with sources, business owners, public figures, and community members to gather insights and perspectives
- Attend events to capture quotes, observations, and multimedia content such as pop-ups, press conferences, business visits, and other live coverage opportunities
- Write clear, accurate, and compelling copy while fact-checking and proofreading to ensure quality and credibility
- Monitor news sources, press releases, and social media to identify story opportunities, trends, and timely coverage
