Company Information
Located in Auburn, The Citizen is a newspaper covering the Cayuga County area. We print three times a week, but our first priority is generating stories and multimedia for our website, auburnpub.com. Along with Auburn we cover all the towns and villages of Cayuga County, which lies between Syracuse Rochester and Ithaca. We also cover some towns and villages immediately outside the county, such as the lakeside village of Skaneateles. Duration is 10 weeks. The candidate will begin in our new office in Auburn, but can transition to working remotely.
Qualifications
- Enrollment in a bachelor's program in journalism and/or some experience working at a news publication is preferred
- Along with your resume, please include a cover letter and at least three writing samples, ideally ones that have been published.
- Applicable skills include news writing, interviewing, copy editing, taking photos and video, and familiarity with social media
- Our ideal candidate will bring some storytelling experience and enthusiasm for small-town journalism to The Citizen
- The schedule will be based on both the candidate's preference and coverage needs
