Company Information

The Jean V. Naggar Literary Agency, Inc. was established in 1978. JVNLA is an agency that has never identified with the ordinary. Our list includes award-winning writers from every genre. Our books have been published in over 50 countries; showcased on TV, Film, and on stage; featured in short story anthologies, magazines, and adapted for audio and e-book publications. Our knowledge of the print and digital world is driving the conversation of publishing's future so that our authors are protected in an ever-changing market.
JVNLA offers internships throughout the year for students with an interest in publishing. We require that an intern commits to working 16-20 hours a week. The internship involves tasks that are designed to acquaint an intern with the daily workings of a literary agency, as well as the world of publishing as a whole. We are looking for detail-oriented, hardworking applicants.
This is a small office and the intern will be trained in a number of areas: including but not limited to, the use of a software program used by a variety of literary agencies and publishers, the nature of the submission process both domestically and internationally, along with other various projects; including social media, learning and understanding royalty statements and contracts, and reading and evaluating proposals and manuscripts.
Our interns will gain a strong understanding of publishing and the inner workings of a well-established literary agency, with a strong track record both domestically and internationally.
This is unpaid but we provide a monthly MetroCard/OMNY card for transportation if working in the office.
