Company Information

Soundwave Music Media is an independent, grassroots platform dedicated to preserving and amplifying rock music—an expansive umbrella covering indie rock, alternative, punk, desert rock, heavy metal, classic rock, and all sub-genres rooted in rock 'n' roll.

Our dedicated team of journalists, spread across the world, works remotely to deliver carefully researched reports on artist, venues, industry insights, tour updates, festival announcements, and in-depth special reports. We prioritize thorough research and drawing from interviews with musicians, engineers, venue owners, and scene figures to bring authentic stories straight from the source. Contributors volunteer through The Soundwave Foundation, building skills in journalism, podcasting, hosting, videography, and production.
We especially support student journalists, working closely with them to help complete academic projects, gain hands-on experience, and earn school credits. Our program gives student journalists the opportunity to be published in real outlet, contributing researched pieces that reach our audience while advancing their portfolios and education.

We spotlight new acts and emerging artists while honoring the legends, focusing on all music rooted in rock 'n' roll to keep the culture alive. Our content includes in-depth interview with our series The Green Room, featuring unfiltered conversations with artists and scene figures. We produce monthly curated playlists through Playback, highlighting the best new rock and indie tracks from our coverage, available on our site and YouTube. We’re also expanding into more monthly broadcast and discussion with The Wavelength, exploring rock’s pulse, industry realities, and cultural shifts.

Through The Soundwave Foundation, we’re actively building a parallel, corporate-free music ecosystem. This includes programs like "Life On The Road" to support artists in need, philanthropy initiatives, open-access content, workshops, and expanded broadcasting and live programming to fuel independent rock and grow our network. Our reporting remains objective and fact-driven—less opinion, more music. We deliver researched stories, artist reports.
We accept no money from artists for promotion, advertising, or coverage. Our independence is funded by views, merchandise sales, donations, and The Soundwave Foundation, while we build relationships with aligned affiliates and sponsors. Our mission is to expand as a trusted, uncompromised asset in the music community—growing our live broadcasts, content reach, and support systems to fuel the rock and independent ecosystem for generations to come.

Additional Notes

The Soundwave Student Program is a volunteer-based, college-exclusive initiative under Soundwave Music Media (supported by The Soundwave Foundation), designed specifically for undergraduate and graduate students passionate about music journalism, rock culture, multimedia storytelling, and independent media. Drawing inspiration from established college-level journalism and music media programs—such as student-run campus publications, university radio content teams (e.g., WKNC at NC State, WUTK at UT Knoxville), investigative centers like the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism at Maryland, music journalism concentrations (e.g., UT Knoxville's Music Journalism & Media track), and hands-on experiential projects at schools like Goldsmiths or Texas State—this program offers authentic, portfolio-strengthening opportunities to contribute to a dedicated independent rock music platform.
