Cleveland.com is seeking a spring semester intern to join our Statehouse reporting team. This position offers a front-row seat to Ohio politics and policy, with opportunities to learn the craft of political journalism in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- The position requires spending at least two days per week downtown at the Statehouse.
- This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in politics, government, and public policy
- Solid writing, research, and organizational skills
- Curiosity and initiative are essential, as is the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- You will attend legislative committee meetings, press conferences, and floor sessions at the Statehouse, taking notes and tracking policy debates as they unfold.
- You will work closely with a senior reporter while also being encouraged to identify and follow your own story ideas.
- As part of the newsroom team, you will also learn how to integrate artificial intelligence tools into your reporting workflow.
- Our newsroom is developing practices that will prepare you for the future of journalism.
