As an Assistant Medical Writer intern, you will work on a variety of medical communications projects, gaining hands-on experience in scientific storytelling, content development, and strategic messaging. This role offers exposure to the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries and has the potential to transition into a full-time role at Klick.

Qualifications

  • Graduating by April 2025 or graduated from a post-secondary program within the past three years in Life Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in Medical Communications
  • Excellent scientific writing skills, with experience in writing scientific papers, posters, and presentations in academic or professional settings
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, and communicate complex scientific information in a clear and compelling way
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Gmail)
  • Ability to work hybrid (at least 2 days per week in Toronto or Philadelphia) and successfully work remotely on other days
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and leverage relevant resources to understand scientific concepts
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn new therapeutic areas quickly
  • You’re not simply talented, but also optimistic, driven, empathetic, trustworthy, and kind

Duties

  • Collaborate with Medical Writing and Scientific Strategy teams to ensure communication objectives are met.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research to support the development of medical content.
  • Work across multiple therapeutic areas, learning and applying new scientific knowledge efficiently.
  • Utilize various tools and resources to enhance efficiency and accuracy in medical writing.
  • Research, interpret, and synthesize complex scientific data into compelling narratives.
  • Adapt writing style for different audiences (e.g., physicians, specialists, nurses, patients).
  • Maintain high-quality standards and adhere to internal quality control processes.
  • Effectively incorporate feedback from internal teams and clients.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Support the development and execution of medical communications deliverables (e.g., presentations, websites, abstracts, manuscripts).
  • Participate in client discussions, ensuring deliverables align with business and scientific goals.
  • Work closely with Client Services and Project Managers to manage timelines and anticipate project challenges.

Additional Notes

Desired Qualifications:
Interest in digital health communications
Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare sector, or medical affairs
Working knowledge of the AMA style guide
Academic or professional experience presenting scientific content to different audiences
Experience with scientific databases, referencing software, and approval software
